The ALS Physics Group is engaged in four main activities:

1. Provide high-quality beam in a reliable manner to users.

2. Strive to understand and continually improve the performance of the facility, keeping it at the forefront of synchrotron radiation sources.

3. Ensure that machine upgrades are implemented smoothly, minimizing any adverse impact to users.

4. Study potential upgrades to the facility that will enhance the ALS’s capabilities and capacities.

We also support other accelerator projects both inside and out of the Laboratory,
as well as non-accelerator projects at the ALS.

The Advanced Light Source is a division of Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
The ALS Physics Group is a core program of the Accelerator & Fusion Research Division of LBNL.
